The chipped blue bowl was the first discovery I found in our new house in Albert Park.

After that I found all sorts of things, from an old bullet also in the garden to a cracked tile in the bathroom and a dried-out cat carcass in the drains. But the chipped blue bowl remains the remembered sign of someone having dwelt within our walls before we came.

It’s true that sometimes I think of getting rid of it and sometimes I use it as a watering bowl for our dog especially when it rains. But somehow it survives every clean-up. Apparently it likes the place and wants to stay.
