FORUM: Paradise Lost or Utopia Regained?

Interactive media art now - FREE!

Public Forum chaired by Darren Tofts (Professor of Media and Communications, Swinburne University of Technology and a leading academic in the field of media art).

Australian and international artists explore the opportunities for interactive art to take us into uncharted territories, ask some tough questions about the current state of media art in the twenty-first century and ponder the future of the medium.  Panel members include interactive media artists: Van Sowerine (Australia), Christa Sommerer (Austria), Niklas Roy (Germany), David Kousemaker (Amsterdam), Jean Dubois (Canada) and Matthew Gingold (Australia)

Media Tykes FREE!

Every Tuesday morning during the exhibition, mothers, fathers, grandparents, carers and guardians are invited to attend Experimenta Utopia Now with their children (aged 1 – 5yrs) for a short interactive exhibition tour encouraging children to activate the artworks in the exhibition and have fun while learning about art.

WORKSHOPS: Sonic Vibrations

presented by international media artist Niklas Roy (Germany)

Blend everyday objects with the power of basic tech to create and take home a fully functioning sonic manipulator. Plug straight into your new baby amp (provided by Experimenta) and produce some hot new tunes.

Experimenta Artist Lab

presented by Australian media artists Jesse Stevens and Tim Humphry

Experimenta Artist Lab is a space for innovation, experimentation, creative collaboration and learning new skills. The ‘workshop’ style lab is designed to give artists, designers and other creative types the tools and skills they need to move their existing practice into the interactive realm by introducing them to the basic technology needed to produce physically interactive artworks.
